Love Always, Reflections…

June 20, 2020 by Lashonta Edwards Leave a Comment

I give myself permission to love and be loved.

Loving others is an exercise for our soul. Isn’t it?  Each time we embrace someone, we attempt to burn away the unwanted weight of hatred and bitterness that we’ve held for others. Love is the most basic AND complex of human feelings.  We are born to love and be loved.

Not only should we give ourselves permission to love, but it also requires us to look at others through compassionate eyes.

Love is a choice.

Love is not an emotion that should rule our actions. We absolutely need to be smart and careful when it comes to love. Ironically, Love begins in the mind. How many times have you sat and pondered if you truly love someone? It’s a choice to open your mind about the thought of loving someone and letting them love you. In return, you MAY make the decision to love.

Sometimes we may be confused about what we are feeling.

Is it love?

Infatuation is a feeling that takes over the body but disappears after time. LOVE IS DIFFERENT.

The seeds of love take time to grow. Once they take root, it is nearly impossible to remove them.

We love with passion. We love unconditionally. We love faithfully.

Repeat After Me…

I accept the love of others. I never question whether others truly love me because I fill my mind with positive thoughts. When others tell me that they love me, I believe them. When others extend their love to me, I grab it.

I lay down my guard around others.

When I allow myself to be vulnerable around others, they see a side of me that is easy to love.

I love because there is much more to gain from loving relationships than from relationships of envy and hate.

By focusing on their positive traits, I can convince myself to love even the most difficult people. I can love those whom I have difficulty accepting. The more I love them, the easier they are to accept.

We’ll leave sabotaging thoughts for another day.

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. Have I looked in the mirror and told myself that “I Love You”?
  2. How do I respond to the love of others?
  3. Do I expect love to just pop into my heart or do I cultivate it?
  4. Who do I truly Love?
